The recent court decision denying that the ban on same-sex civil partnerships was unconstitutional sends an important message.
Critical decisions about LGBT+ rights, such as same-sex marriage, rest with the Government rather than the courts. The takeaway is clear – huge efforts by many people are needed in order to change government policies.
To date, we have achieved major wins through the courts (notably the Angus Leung case) but political and social pressures are vital to overcoming entrenched political opposition.
In this forum, panelists Gigi Chao, Henry Li, and Professor Denise Tang will discuss how working together we can achieve our goal of marriage equality. The panel will be moderated by Andrew Cohn of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, our forum sponsors.
Come find out what role YOU can play in the fight for marriage equality!
